I had a great idea yesterday, and I thought I would share it with you because it might just work for you too!
The plan is: I will save at least £1 a day from now until next Christmas. The reason for this is so that my Christmas shopping will be paid for – and I will probably have some money left over after it all!
Year upon year I have been left struggling to afford all the shopping at Christmas. I had to use all my December wage to pay for everything – so rather than enjoying the festive period…I used to hate it.
But now that I’m saving at least £1 a day, I won’t need to worry about not being able to afford my presents, food or drink – because I will have a few jars full to the rim with money.
To give you a few figures: One year lasts for 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds (365 ¼) – to be precise. So, if I put away just £1 from now until this time next year, I will have saved £365. Plus, if I take the amount saved each month down to the bank and put it in a savings account, then I should get a bit of interest too.
So why don’t you try it too? Put away at least £1 a day from now until this time next year – and you have enough to pay for all (if not most) of your Christmas shopping.
Alternatively, you could just put a set amount away each month. I know many of you may already do this, but why not try and save a little bit more to cover the cost of your festive shopping – that way, when you do your shopping, you won’t need to use your savings to pay for it.
